    Carpets are never steam cleaned.

There are two basic processes. First is the use of a water spray and it’s imediate extraction with a super vacum. Soil removing chemicals can be added to the spray. The second uses a rotary scrubber and water detergent solution. It is best to have the solution extracted by the first method to remove residual detergents which will only cause your carpets to attract dirt faster.

The first method is fine for lightly soiled carpets. The second is better for heavily soiled and stained carpets.

Both methods will take a couple of days to dry completely.

There is a third method using a dry cleaning type of chemical. Not suposed to wet the carpets as much but need to air out home after.

I paid 300 for 4-5 rooms by the second method. I moved all the furniture.

Get your # of rooms, the square footage of each and if spotting is needed. Ask for a full quote and the method to be used.

    Call three places.

With this information, you will be fine.
