I don’t think it would work. Why don’t you throw a couple of scented dryer sheets on top of your matress but under your fitted sheet. That would work better I think
I suppose you could, but I wouldn’t do it personally. The powder has a chalky feel to it, and if you spread it all over, it will also probably have that feel. I’d use febreeze instead, or light a candle until you can get some. Or you can possibly take the mattress outside and air it out for a day or two (weather permitting) to see if that helps. (perfume?)
what about talc powder,or spray with scented linen sprays they are really cheap at like tj maxx, ross, or marshalls, or go get some febreeze and spray that.
No, use febreeze or something like that, just look in the cleaning aisle the next time you are at the supermarket and you will find sprays that you can use on furniture and curtains etc., so I would try that first, hope this helps, goodluck!
Probably what you are smelling is bacteria build up.
Don’t know if it would do any good to try and have it cleaned or not.
I would replace it, as the smell won’t just disappear, regardless of all the smelly good stuff you try and put on it.
That stuf is pretty potent and might mke you sneeze! Another reason not to put it on your bed is because it’s powder and you shouldn’t be inhaling powder if you can avoid it.
You didn’t say what kind of mattress you have but I know all the memory foam mattresses have a funny smell when new.
A better option would be to spray the mattress with fabreeze. It’s an odor neutralizer and made specifically for fabrics. Just make sure you let it dry before making the bed.
If you don’t have one, a mattress pad would be helpful (in more ways than one). It would cover the ’smelly’ mattress and protect the mattress from stains and dead skin cells. The mattress pad is machine washable, whereas your mattress is not. Hope this helps. Sleep well.
Edit: I just saw your edit. Spot clean the area as best as you can, then sprinkle baking soda on it and leave it there at least a few hours. This will absorb the stink, just vacuum and sleep well.
I had the same problem a week ago and asked a similar question to yours…I was told to use baking soda. Just sprinkle it over the beds , leave for a few hours , then vacuum off. It worked ! no more smell. I also tried the same thing in my car ..because milk burst all over the floor and went sour…the smell was terrible , the baking soda did the job and my now my car smell good again.
